Our focus in Africa is to support long-term socio- economic development, by developing large- scale agro industry projects together with the local communities and the Government of Tanzania for the production of sugar, bioethanol and bioelectricity, in a sustainable manner.
This Code of Conduct expresses the principles by which we pursuit our relationships with employees, business partners and other stakeholders.
Ecological and Social Principles
Precautionary Principle. We have the highest respect for living ecosystems and local culture. Whenever any of our decisions involves any form of life, we strive to follow the precautionary principle.
Zero Waste. There is no “away” on Earth, therefore we strive to produce no waste. Where possible we close all natural cycles by expanding the value chain.
Resource Efficiency. We strive to use finite energy and raw materials like water and soil efficiently and adopt the most environmentally- friendly technologies and practices
Fertility Management. We strive to manage ecosystem fertility by ensuring biodiversity conservation, diverse biomass protection and a continuous reduction of synthetic inputs in the agricultural operations.
Stakeholder Engagements. We engage in open and ongoing dialogue with key stakeholders. We have the highest respect for the well-being of the local communities in which we operate. In consultation with communities, we plan and implement projects in an open, transparent and collaborative manner.
Fundamental Human Needs. We support conditions that allow people to meet their fundamental needs such as subsistence, protection, freedom, rest and recovery, identity, participation, and creativity.
Partners. We work with partners to foster long-term relationships of mutual trust between parties and the societies in which we operate, based on shared values and a commitment to the principles outlined in this Code of Conduct.
Supply Chain. We promote environmental and social responsibility and endeavor to ensure that our consultants, suppliers and contractors abide by the principles in this Code of Conduct, which may request higher standards than required by national laws.
Beyond Compliance. We go beyond mere compliance with the law or generally accepted principles, taking into account national and international laws, natural laws and ethical economic principles.
Zero Corruption. We do not tolerate corruption at any level. We observe neutrality with regards to political parties and candidates.
Human Rights. We respect and support the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights and ensure we are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour. We provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. We respect freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. We do not tolerate any form of forced, compulsory or child labour.
Equal Opportunities. We develop strong and consistent relationships with all employees based on mutual respect and dignity. We encourage workplace diversity, fair treatment and do not discriminate on based on partiality or prejudice.
Performance and Grievance Principles. To ensure this we will on top of our management system routines develop and implement following detail programs to ensure compliance with this Code of Conduct;
